Teen’s Staggering Audition On ‘The Voice’ Leaves The Coaches Completely Baffled

In every talent competition we tune into on TV, you can almost always count on finding the front-runner pretty quickly. There tends to be one audition that just shines a little bit brighter than the rest.

While kicking off the newest season of The Voice following the Olympics’ Closing Ceremony, I think it’s safe to say we have found that diamond in the rough in 17-year-old Wé McDonald.

Though she’s still a teen, the youngster’s vocal range shows a maturity far beyond her years. Her soulful rendition of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” reminded me of Alisan Porter’s show-stopping audition last year! After watching every coach spin their chair around, I can only imagine McDonald will follow in Porter’s winning footsteps.

Those watching at home seem to agree, too, already placing several bets on this crooner for the number one spot. In the studio, new coach Miley Cyrus was the first famous to face to greet Wé with an encouraging shout of “Yes!” as Wé held the song’s first long, clear note.

Adam Levine waits almost all the way til the last moment to spin around, something we’re more used to seeing from Blake Shelton, and they all take a turn pleading for Wé to pick their team.

The clip cuts off before you see her decision, but it’s Alicia Keys who manages to woo the powerhouse songstress with her heartwarmingly earnest appeal.
