This Toddler Is Fighting Sleep On Car Trip Until Dad Speaks 3 Magic Words. I Am So Trying This!

Fighting so hard to stay awake, he needed a little convincing before he would finally give in. In the comfort of his familiar car seat, bundled up in his winter gear, he felt cozy enough to doze off, but it took a while before he came to grips with the reality that he was indeed very tired. Dad starts up a loving conversation with his son to help him realize it, and were it not for his fatherly advice, he may have kept up the fight to stay awake even longer.

Dad gently inquires, Hey buddy, you tired? The soft reply came instantly, Yeah. There was no denying it because dad knew, and he knew that a nap time was needed at this point. There little chat kept going, but this little guy was more focused on keeping his eyes open. Maybe dad was just as tired as his son, or maybe he was thinking of the magic words to get him to sleep. Whatever the case, he knew that his gentle hints weren’t working well enough. So, he said, Go ahead, go to sleep.

After all the waiting, hinting, and encouraging, four words was all it took. It was now very obvious just exactly how tired his little boy was. His immediate reaction to dad’s loving command proved he was hanging by a thread. Parents have an incredible way of knowing their children’s needs, sometimes even more than the children to themselves. Even though this toddler may have felt tired, the comfort of knowing dad understands him was just what it took to help him do what he needed most.
