Clever Rat Learns To Ride The Escalator, Evades Mall Workers Trying To Catch Him

There’s no telling what an animal is capable of. When faced with human technology, they’ve been known to have a few surprises up their sleeve.

While I can admit that most of this expertise comes from a place of pure coincidence, it’s still funny to watch one of our furry little friends take on a big bad machine.

Or even a small machine. Honestly, both are amusing in their own way.

Especially when you can see the animal’s personality coming through as they try to figure out what they’re doing.

Take, for example, this cute dog who’s teaching his baby friend to play the xylophone. It really doesn’t get much cuter than this!

Sometimes, they really do master things quickly. And that can truly come in handy when the moment is right, like this dog who called 911 on an iPhone and saved his veteran owner’s life. What an incredible dog!

In the case of this seemingly ingenious mall rat, he uses the escalator to evade his captors — and it works.

After somehow boarding the escalator as if he were a normal rider, the rat moves quickly up the machine until he’s far enough away to take a break.

But once he starts to get close to the mall workers trying to catch him, you can be sure that he’s speeding away again.
