Vietnam Vet Walks To Car, Finds THIS From Complete Stranger Shoved In Door Handle

Richard Smith is a veteran of the war in Vietnam. He had quite the emotional experience recently, and it involved a simple yet powerful note from a stranger.

The men and women that served in Vietnam had it difficult on many fronts. The families and loved ones of those who served were affected as well.

The participants had the distinction of serving in America’s most unpopular war. As with any deployment, it was terrible to leave their family and loved ones.

In many cases the men and women who served overseas witnessed things that would affect them for the rest of their lives. It would be difficult to speak about, and as difficult as it was, some kept it all inside.

Even though these brave men and women did their duty and went to serve their country, they were not treated with the respect they deserved. Unfortunately, upon return, most soldiers did not receive the praise and thanks they earned. Instead they were met with indifference or even malice.

Mr. Smith got a little “payback” a little after the fact — fifty years later, in fact. He was at a shopping center in Boynton Beach, Florida when he returned to his car to find a note on it. “I thought someone hit the car” he said.

But the note, in red ink, touched Richard right in the heart. It thanked him for being a Vietnam Vet and serving his country.

It is sad that these men and women are only more recently being appreciated for their loyalty. That era was painful for all involved, and right in the middle of it these young heroes were yanked from their youthful days.

So many paid the ultimate sacrifice and at the very least we should be able to show them our sincere respect. Many will not understand what that time was like, but most will agree the cost was far too precious.

We should keep making efforts to thank all of our vets. It’s something they will not forget and it’s something we should not forget to do.

The emotions survivors like Mr. Smith feel are brought forth from remembering what that time was like. It’s difficult to think of the war and not think about those who did not make it back.
