It is every parent’s nightmare. A Fort Pierce, Florida, couple is in mourning of one of their newborn twins Hawk and Mason. They have been through a rollercoaster of a ride trying to keep their babies alive.

People worldwide felt heartache for the Buchmeyer twins when their parents shared a beautiful and emotional picture on Facebook of the brothers’ touching for the very first time after birth. They were dubbed the ‘hugging twins’ because they can be seen with a warm embrace.

“As soon as Mason felt Hawk he reached out his arm and smiled this big,” parents Brandy Guettler and Tommy Buchmeyer wrote underneath the Facebook photo of the babies.

This picture was taken a 11 days after they were born, it’s the first time they have ever touched and as soon as Mason felt Hawk he reached out for his arm and smiled this big. We thought it was time for everyone pulling for our boy to see this picture. — feeling emotional.

The twin boys were brought to this world on Aug. 18 at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Doctors noticed that Hawk immediately experienced serious health problems

He was diagnosed with a rare condition called CDH, congenital diaphragmatic hernia. The family kept their friends and family posted about Hawk’s health through Facebook. There was a huge outpouring of support for the Buchmeyers by the thousands of strangers on the internet who were moved by Hawk’s story.

However, the Buchmeyers just recently shared that Hawk had died and “was called home to be with Jesus.”

We would like to send our prayers and condolences to the Buchmeyer family.
