He Thinks Daughter Will FLIP During 1st Time At Dentist. But Her REAL Reaction? Dad’s Moved To Tears…

Doyin is a hard working dad who was a little apprehensive about taking his 2-year-old daughter to her first dentist appointment. Convinced she would freak out, he tried to mentally prepare the toddler as they headed to the dentist’s office.

“I thought she was going to meltdown,” said Doyin. “I thought she was going to lose her mind.”

“I thought she was going to cry hysterically and it was just going to be a total mess.”

As it turned out, his little girl remained completely calm throughout the procedure and actually seemed to enjoy it. By contrast, dad was having a hard time maintaining his composure!

Watching his toddler being brave as she sat in the big dentist chair getting her teeth cleaned triggered a rather unexpected sentimental response in Doyin.

“I get emotional because she’s just getting so big,” he said tearfully. His daughter’s courage helped him see that he’s not doing so bad as a parent.

“It’s one of those things where I don’t know if I can take all the credit but I feel like I’m doing something to raise a child who is able to be calm and show her sense of resilience.”

“Because I always teach her like, ‘It’s okay I will always be there for you.’ Even if I’m not physically there, I will always be there.” said Doyin.

It’s amazing to see how this dad can be so honest about his parenting fears. After all, babies don’t come with a user manual. Most of us just do the best job we can and hope for the best.

This video clip reminds me of the time Joanna Gaine’s Facebook post about a bush she planted outside her daughter’s window so that they could enjoy watching the butterflies as they grew up. The seeds of the bush represent the lessons we teach our children which we hope they carry with them and use them as they grow.

Even though she forgot to mention the purpose of the bush to her daughters, years later, Joanna discovered that her little ones had indeed been paying attention to the little critters and birds that fluttered around it.

Doyin has always reminded his daughter that she can count on him to get through anything no matter how scary it feels. That day at the dentist, he realized she’d been listening all along.
