This Guy Fails Paternity Test Because The Father Of His Son Is His Unborn Brother

Science and technology has made some amazing advancements in the recent few years. However there are some incidents so bizarre that they challenge science to extent that even the leading scientists of the world are left stunned. Here we have a story which might take you a few minutes to believe. But trust me it is true and has been proved by the genetic science. This incident which took place in Washington, where a 34-year-old man recently failed a paternity test but the reason left the medical team confounded. Tests revealed that the man’s unborn twin was his biological baby’s father. Confused???, let’s go through the story from the start.

An unnamed couple, were having trouble conceiving their second child, and like a lot of couples they too turned towards a fertility clinic, as a solution to their grief. Intrauterine insemination was performed, where the man’s sperm was washed and concentrated before being inserted directly into his partner’s uterus during ovulation. And nine months later, a cute baby was born. But things were not destined to be that simple. The baby’s blood group did not match either of parents. Both the parents were [A] and the baby was [AB]. ‘There are rare cases where that can happen, but their first thought was that the clinic had mixed up sperm samples.’ Said Barry Starr, a geneticist at Stanford University.

Barry Starr, then suggested a more powerful paternity test called the– 23andMe genetic service. This test can determine if there is any familial link. The results left them flabbergasted; the 23andMe test showed that the man was genetically the baby’s uncle. ‘That was kind of a eureka moment. Chimera reports are very rare, but they are real.’ Barry Starr said. To confirm the test results, DNA samples were taken from the man’s cheek and they found that 10 per cent of the DNA carried in his sperm did not match the rest of his DNA. Two sets of DNA, were present in the man’s body – his own ‘major’ genome and his unborn brother’s ‘minor’ genome.

Another paternity test was carried out and the baby’s DNA matched the DNA of the unborn twin. Barry Starr said ‘So the father is the fusion of two people, both the child’s father and uncle. That’s wicked cool.’ Sometimes the cells from the unborn siblings are absorbed in the womb by the surviving twin. And that’s exactly what happened in this case. As absurd as it sounds it is true. Science has come a long way.
