Couple Tips Her Outrageously High. Then She Finds Note On Napkin & Runs Bawling To Manager

Waitressing can be a very tough job. Being on your feet all day and serving every person that comes into your restaurant can be exhausting. Most waitresses are motivated by the possibility of receiving a great tip!

Claire Hudson was a waitress at Mac’s Grub Shak in Spring Hill, Tennessee and she definitely needed a big tip to make it through the slow day they were having at the restaurant. That’s when a young couple came in and sat down in her section to have a meal.

The couple ordered two hot dogs, a hamburger, and some beer. They enjoyed their meal as usual, got up, and went on their way. It wasn’t until Claire was busing their table when she realized what they had left behind.

On top of the $29.40 bill was an extra tip of $36. A larger tip than the cost of the meal? Odd.

While seemingly weird and a bit of a random amount to leave behind, Claire pocketed the money. However, upon closer examination, Claire realized that the large tip was a reflection of something much more precious.

When Claire turned over the receipt, she found a short note. It explained the odd tip in a heart-touching way.

“Today is my brother’s b-day. He would have been 36 today. Every year I go eat his favorite meal (hot dogs) and tip the waitress his age. Happy B-day Wes.”

Claire, immediately filled with emotion, rushed into the office of her manager, Michael McCray. She placed the note in his hand which he proceeded to read.

As he read the note, tears rolled down his face. Little did Claire know that Michael had also lost a brother and the note resonated deeply with him.

“In just a few weeks he would have been 28. It’s odd that this man would choose my restaurant over any other place,” Michael shared with Daily Mail Online.

Claire went home at the end of her shift and decided to post the story online where people liked and shared it thousands of times. The story touched people in so many ways. The couple wanted to leave a small gift in the name of a lost loved one, but ended up reaching more people than they could have imagined!
