Bullies Target Age 5 Boy With Severe Facial Cleft. How He Gets Back At Them Is PERFECT

Being born with severe deformity can cause many life complications. However, one of the most difficult components of this is going through childhood and adolescence being misunderstood.

Children often do not understand people who are different and this can cause horrible experiences for children like Ethan Zweig.

Ethan was born with an extremely severe facial cleft that required five surgeries to save his left eye and correct his nostrils. The deformity has left him legally blind in his left eye and may require corrective surgeries for the rest of his life.

This birth defect has left Ethan vulnerable not only to physical challenges including eating, breathing and physical activity, but emotional challenges as well.

During this process, Ethan was faced with the stares and judgments of other children. However, he handled his challenges with the grace and maturity of someone way beyond his years.

Even his mother, Annie, was shocked at his confidence and poise when it came to dealing with the other children.

“Ethan is aware that people do stare at him, and he knows why but he wants to handle these situations himself and doesn’t want to be helped by us. Usually, he goes up to children who stare and he introduces himself,” Annie explained.

Annie was nervous taking him to school, but shortly realized that he could completely hold his own and walked into this social situation with complete confidence!

His grandfather Phil said, “Ethan is a happy person and very smart, we are doing full immersion in a local school. He knows how to handle himself, he’s avoid people and handles any situation so maturely.

“I used to always stand next to him or block his view if someone was staring. But he told me he knows people stare and he knows why. He told me not to stand in the way because he was going to talk to the and let them know who he is.”

Ethan is an incredible young man who we can all learn a thing or two from! He has embraced what God has given him and is proud to be who he is.

Annie said it well when she shared, “Ethan is the sweetest boy, and everyone he meets loves him. He makes me so proud. He is a gift. I feel that Ethan has made me a better person.”
