Bride Shows Father She Waited Until Marriage With Unusual Purity Certificate

Berlyn Bowman and her new husband, Tim Bowman, did something that shocked their 600 wedding guests, including Berlyn’s father. During the reception, Berlyn called her father up and presented him with a certificate.

The achievement letter was signed by her and her doctor declaring that Berlyn was, in fact, a virgin on her wedding day. She describes it as a “certificate of purity.”

“I like to call myself the preacher of purity,” said Berlyn. “I wanted to prove my word to my father.”

Like another couple, Maggie and Andrew, Tim and Berlyn made the purity pact that they would wait until marriage.

Although, it isn’t totally surprising. Berlyn’s dad is a pastor after all. She made the decision to surprise her father on her wedding day with the big news.

“The decision came from honoring God and honoring my father,” she told ABC News. “He was very excited, and it’s like a child and they bring home a progress report.”

After Berlyn posted the photo and video online, it went viral. Many supported her decision, while others despised it.

“We’re strong in what we believe that sexual purity is the way to go,” Tim said.”We’re honoring God, and we took that one step further.”

While every person and every couple is entitled to make their own choices, it’s hard not to commend Berlyn and Tim for sticking to their values in a world where that isn’t exactly easy.
