Age 74 Aretha Franklin Forced To Cancel Multiple Upcoming Concerts. The Reason Has Fans Terrified

Fans are deeply concerned for one of America’s iconic, legendary soul singers, Aretha Franklin. The singer just announced the cancellation of her upcoming shows due to ongoing health issues, on doctors’ orders.

The queen of soul released the following statement to fans regarding her upcoming show on Friday, August 25th:

“Regretfully, due to doctors’ orders I will have to cancel a few concerts for the next month or so. I’m especially disappointed because two of them are among my favorite cities, Washington D.C. and New York. I don’t want to miss any. I should continue the rest of my tour by November. I decided it was time to go home and take care of myself consistent with doctors’ orders,” -Aretha Franklin

The cancellation included an appearance at the ‘Radio City Music Hall’s Tony Bennett Celebrates 90’ concert as well as her planned performance at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna Virginia on Friday, August 26.

The singer underwent extensive health conditioning between 2010 and 2015, losing enough weight to slim her figure and produce a noticeable change in her overall health. She underwent surgery for an undisclosed reason in 2010 and lost 85 pounds back in 2012.

Franklin said on The View during about the same time, “I feel wonderful, I’ve got more energy, I’ve changed my diet, going to Whole Foods now, getting the best stuff … Dropped the chitlins, drop the ham hocks, getting some — I won’t say better food, I’ll say other food.”

She said of her weight loss success, “I have diabetes, really, from years ago when I was really badly and grossly overweight. Now, I’m back to my natural size and thrilled about it.”

Franklin had to cancel an event last year in Las Vegas due to exhaustion.

Taking her health history into consideration, though fans are concerned for her, it’s a relief to know this legendary soul diva is following doctors’ orders responsibly.
