Woman Has Been Dead For 500 Years, The Discovery Researchers Just Made Will Leave You Speechless…

The young Incan woman known today as “The Maiden” was just 15 years old when she died. Her frozen, body was found in 1999 in a volcano in Argentina. The girl’s body is almost perfectly preserved, although she died more than 500 years ago. According to Peruvian archeologists, the young girl was chosen as a sacrifice to the Inca gods. In this sacrificial ritual, children were taken to high mountain tops, eating coca leaves as they traveled, and then given an intoxicating drink at the site of the sacrifice. The Inca priests would either kill the victims, or leave them on the mountain top to freeze to death. Scientists examining the body of the Maiden found coca lumps in between her teeth, confirming she was drugged when she died. Of interest, the girl a bacterial infection related to tuberculosis when she died. The researchers note that the discovery of this bacteria may provide valuable information in the fight against new or reemerging illnesses. This means that the Maiden’s ultimate sacrifice some 500 years ago could help to cure diseases that impact humans today.
