The little raccoon you’re about to meet is an incredibly happy little thing!

His name is Harbor and back in 2011 police found him confined to a 2-foot-long cage on an impounded boat. He had been locked away for four long years, and his prison was filthy, covered in dirt and feces. In all likelihood he had probably never even had the opportunity to stand up before.

He couldn’t climb, and because of a metabolic disease that he was suffering with, that was caused by malnutrition, he walked on his wrists instead of his feet.

But Harbor was a strong little guy, and he wasn’t about to let that get him down. After he was taken in by a California-based rescue called Animal Advocates, the former pet was given a new chance at life.

He was provided with a big cage, his very own pool to splash around in and lots of tender, loving care. And as the videos, which were taken not long after he was rescued, show, Harbor may very well be the happiest little raccoon in the world.

Here are just a few things that fill Harbor with joy.

This unbelievably sweet raccoon may not have had the easiest start to life, but his little spirit is obviously unbreakable. And even though these videos are from a few years ago, Mary Cummins, the founder of Animal Advocates, reports on Facebook that Harbor, who was assessed and considered unreleasable, is just as happy as ever and he’s loving life at his new sanctuary home.

Isn’t Harbor absolutely perfect? And such a strong little boy to have lived through that torment and come out joyous on the other side! I’m thrilled that he was found and taken out of such a wretched situation!
