Mom Can’t Afford Surgery For Her Sick Son, So She Asks A Total Stranger For Help And Gets It

One Olympic discus thrower is proving that his arm isn’t the strongest part of his body — it’s his heart.

After winning a silver medal in his event at the Olympic Games, Piotr Malachowski, who was representing Poland in Rio, received a distressing message from a total stranger.

Olek Szymanski, a 3-year-old from Malachowski’s home country, is suffering from a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma. His mother reached out to Malachowski asking for help for her son.

He needed to get to New York for treatment and she didn’t have the money to get him there. It would cost $126,000 that she had no way of earning in time.

Olek has already been battling the disease for two years and New York is his last hope.

After reading the message, Malachowski decided to do something absolutely incredible for Olek and his mother.

Malachowski decided to auction off his medal to the highest bidder in an effort to raise the money.
